About BajaSail.Net

BajaSail.net is a new exciting sailing adventure tour operator offering all inclusive small group vacation packages in the Sea of Cortez. Our base station is a 47 ft. luxury Catamaran that sails out of the city of Loreto in Baja California, Mexico.

Unlike Bareboat Vacations our offering is a fully organized all inclusive vacation package modeled after the original "Club Med" concept. Your vacation package includes three meals a day, six nights aboard BajaSail and recreational activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving, eco-hiking and much more. See adventure tour description for a complete list of activities. The package now includes a seventh night at the beautiful five-star Inn at loreto Bay.

The BajaSail catamaran can accommodate up to 8 guests at a time. Guests are treated as part of the family. Our crew of three, occasionally a crew of four, are there to guide, teach, organize and assist in making this your best vacation ever. Part of the BajaSail adventure is particpating as a sailing crew. As crew members you are responsible in assiting in all activities including on board meal preparations, clean-up of personal and common quarters, recreational activities etc. There is plenty of time for private relaxation both on-board or on shore.

The Boat

Your boat features four spacious private staterooms with en suite heads, a well-designed U-Shaped saloon area with separate bench seating for 8 to 10 adults. Standard equipment includes full electronics package, air conditioning and a generator. Each passenger stateroom has it own private head, which includes a private sink, toilet and shower. The crew also has its own separate bathroom accommodations

     

The Specs.

There are 4 passenger staterooms and 2 crew quarters on board. The overall length is 47’10”. The beam length is 7.4m, Draft 1.33m. Saloon Headroom is 2.08m (6’9”). We have 2 auxiliary Diesel engines 56HP. Fuel 158 gal. Water tank 206 gal and Sail dimension is 124sq meters.

About the Crew

Daniel
Native of Toronto, Canada and now residing in San Diego. Daniel has a degree in Biology from UCSC. With a love for the sea and diving, he provides extensive knowledge of whales, fish, birds and flora of Baja. He has traveled to many remote destinations including Panama, Costa Rica and Indonesia. Daniel has spent 2 years teaching eco-conservation and science throughout the Los Angles area with Star Education. Whether it be 100 feet below the ocean or hiking through the desert, Daniel always enjoys the opportunity to be both student and teacher.


Dan
Dan grew up in Santa Cruz, on the central California coast. In the mid-sixties he learned to sail by building a series of small boats and sailing them for fun in the Pacific Ocean. He became involved in the local racing scene, and built his first racing boat, a 30' ultra-light mono-hull, in 1979. He and two friends sailed this boat ( without an engine ) to central Mexico. The desire to sail even faster led him to design and build his first multi-hull sailboat in 1985, a 31' day racing trimaran. He has been a die-hard multi-hull fan ever since, owning and racing several catamarans. When not building his own boats, Dan works as a rigger builds a few boats for others, teaches sailing, guitar,and skippers charter boats. His current boat is a self-designed and built 35' racer /cruiser catamaran. Dan sailed this boat from Santa Cruz to Cabo San Lucas, then into the Sea of Cortez.

 

Jose Manuel
Jose Manuel Ochoa has been living in Baja California for the last 14 years. Jose is a university grad with a bachelor in tourism and business administration and a masters degree in environmental administration and public affairs. His passion is the protection of the natural beauty and the ecosystems of the Baja Peninsula. Jose participates in many environmental groups and has traveled and explored all the wonders of the lower Baja Peninsula. He is fluent in both Spanish and English and is a valued member of the BajaSail.net team.

 

George
George is a successful business executive and entrepreneur. A graduate of McGill University in Montreal Canada, his carrier spans over three decades and a variety of enterprises. He spent 25 years with the DuPont Company where he managed a number of medical businesses and launched several new business ventures of his own. George currently lives in San Diego, California and loves the water. He has been sailing for over 15 years and has traveled many parts of the globe. To George the most rewarding thing about travel are the new friends and relationships that you develop, and all the stories that are shared. George and his son, decided to create BajaSail.net, with the mission of delivering sailing adventure vacations to the young at heart. Together they have assembled a great team of experienced professionals to guide every aspect of this latest venture.

 

Mark Belvedere

Captain Mark Belvedere has been working on ships since he entered the merchant marine at age 14. After traveling everywhere from the South Pacific to the Caribbean Belvedere developed a very successful day charter business in Los Cabo San Lucas by bringing Sunderland a 120 year old authentic square rigger tall ship to Cabo www.pirateshipcabo.com.mx Sunderland is a 110 foot long tall sip built in Lowestoft, England in 1885. She has been in Cabo since 1997 delighting thousands of guests each year as Cabo only genuine pirate Ship. Captain Belvedere is an associate of BajaSail.net. Guests of BajaSail.net visiting Cabo receive a free Pirate Ship Cruise, and may find themselves in the custody of Captain Belvedere.
