Pharmacy WellCard™

WHAT IS IT?
The Pharmacy - Wellcard™ program is offered through nearly all of the largest retail chains, as well as smaller independent pharmacies, in the USA. Click here for pharmacy locations. Members may also purchase their prescription drugs by mail order and on the internet directly from either our US based PBM ( Pharmacy Benefit Management) affiliate or our Canadian mail order / internet pharmacy affiliate. Over 46,000 pharmacies nationwide participate in the program.

Many of the drugs that physicians prescribe have alternatives that are equally beneficial but less expensive. Insurance companies know this and increase their profits by switching patient medications. Until now, this information has not been publicly available. As a Pharmacy – WellCard™ member you have unlimited access to prescription evaluation program that will save you from 20% to 50 % on top of the discounts discussed below. Check your prescription alternatives.

RETAIL US
At the retail locations the Pharmacy - WellCard™ program provides savings on both generic and name brand prescriptions and allows for unlimited use by the member and family members. Your discount will vary depending upon the drug ordered and the pharmacy’s everyday price. For example you will save less on already discounted generics or loss leaders and more on expensive maintenance medications.

When using the prescription Pharmacy -, WellCard™ program members are assured of the highest quality of care in filling prescriptions for federal and state legend drug items. A prescription drug means a drug or medication ordered by a legal prescriber that cannot, under federal or applicable state law, be sold without a prescription.

The Pharmacy- WellCard™ program is a mandatory, on-line claim adjudication program. Because discounts are electronically determined, members are assured of receiving a consistent discount. The pharmacist enters the member's identification number printed on the Pharmacy- WellCard identification card, into the on-line computer system and the discount prices are accessed.

The discounts on the Pharmacy- WellCard™ retail program are:

• Brand name drugs are at a 10% discount (+$3.00 dispensing fee) from the Average Wholesale Price (AWP) or the pharmacy's usual and customary charge, whichever is lower.
• Generic drugs are at MAC approximately 50% off of the Average Wholesale Price (AWP) (+$3.00 dispensing fee).
  

MAIL ORDER / INTERNET ORDER USA
An important component of the Pharmacy - WellCard™ drug program is the mail order / internet order service option. This option provides either brand name or generic drugs at significantly discounted prices. The mail order pharmacy program is especially convenient for maintenance prescriptions. Members save time and money as trips to the pharmacy are reduced.

The discounts on the Pharmacy WellCard™ mail order / internet order program are:

• Brand name drugs are at a 15% discount (+$2.79 dispensing fee) from the Average Wholesale Price (AWP) or the pharmacy's usual and customary charge, whichever is lower.
• Generic drugs are 50% off of the Average Wholesale Price (AWP) (+$2.79 dispensing fee).

MAIL ORDER / INTERNET ORDER CANADA
The Pharmacy WellCard™ participant may access our Canadian mail order / Internet affiliate. Our Canadian affiliate is committed to lowering medication costs for patients living in the United States. They have extensive experience in managing the medication needs of persons with chronic medical conditions, acute medical conditions requiring prolonged drug therapy, couples undergoing fertility treatments and persons living with HIV/AIDS.

We encourage you to take advantage of our price quotation and determine for yourself if the Pharmacy WellCard™ Canada program would benefit you. Remember, not all medications are cheaper in Canada.

HOW TO RECEIVE THE PHARMACY BENEFIT?
Take your prescription to the pharmacy you have selected and present your Pharmacy - WellCard™. The instructions on your card will guide the pharmacy to access the appropriate pricing. A convenient toll-free telephone number is also provided on the card for your pharmacist should his computer be un-operational at the time of your visit.
